The photo was taken in winter in Ru Cha Forest surrounding Tam Giang Lagoon, Thua Thien - Hue Province.

The angle, shot straight from above, captured the impressive image of mangroves that had lost all their leaves and turned white during winter, highlighting a fisherman in the centre.

The Drone Photo Awards is an event which was launched in 2015 within the international Siena Photo Awards for photos taken from above.

This year’s event received around 14,000 photos from over 100 countries around the country for the categories of nature, urban, people, wildlife, sport, abstract and wedding.

In addition to drones, entries were captured from commercial airplanes, helicopters, balloons, parachutes, airships, kites and even rockets.

Seven other works by Vietnamese photographers, including Bui Phu Khanh, Khanh Phan, Nguyen Tan Tuan, Nguyen Phuoc Hoai and Vu Ngoc Tuan, entered the final round in the category of People, introducing the beauty of Vietnamese people in labour and cultural activities.

Photographer Nguyen Tan Tuan also submitted a series of six photos to the wedding category of the awards.
