Co-directed by Hoang Ha, Pham Huong, Tran Minh Hai, the performance will take place at the Vietnam National Opera & Ballet, No.11 Nui Truc Str., Kim Ma, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, at 8pm on January 8.

Antigone was written by Sophocles in the 5th century BC. Antigone belongs to the family of Oedipus, and the story takes root from the scramble of her two brothers, who both want the power of the crown.

Both die in battle, and successor King Creon decides that the brother who protected the city must be buried, while the opposing brother, who attacked the city, is not worthy of a grave.

But when Antigone disobeys the law and buries her brother, she defies the King’s law and is sentenced to death.

The play aspires to broaden the dimensions of "Antigone", with insights and experiences from "today’s" lens regarding a story from 2500 years ago, through new experiments in its approach to the original play and its adaptation in contemporary dance.

The project's participating artists are Hoang Ha, Tran Minh Hai, Tran Minh, Quay Tran, Ha Kieu Anh, and Ze Ly.

Attendees need to ensure that they have had two doses of the COVID vaccine and have a certificate of a negative COVID test, within 72 hours before the event. Spectators will sit in marked seats in the auditorium and comply with social distancing regulations of the Vietnamese Ministry of Health (5K).
