Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day opens in Ho Chi Minh City

A ceremony to launch the 2022 Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day and announce the Prime Minister’s Decision on organising the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day was held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 19.

The event, jointly organised by the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, was attended by Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen.

The first Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day of 2022 held in Ho Chi Minh City was attended by more than 20 publishers nationwide, bringing more than 500,000 titles and models of electronic book publishing and distribution, audiobooks, and smart libraries.

At the festival, people of the city can participate in author exchange programmes, book introductions and talks, in addition to a wide range of arts and culture programmes.

Activities in response to the 2022 Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day have been held simultaneously in 63 provinces and centrally-run cities.

The event is expected to create a series of activities on a large and meaningful scale, contributing to the development of culture, the spirit of studiousness and the love for reading of all people throughout the city and country.

The first Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day held in Ho Chi Minh City is scheduled to run until April 24.
