The event officially opened on August 11, as part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of Vietnam – Ukraine diplomatic ties.

Speaking at the exhibition's opening ceremony, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Hong Thach emphasised that amidst the conflict, the exhibition's organisation showed that Vietnam – Ukraine friendship has continuously developed despite difficulties.

The exhibition also reflected support from Ukrainian friends to the activities of the embassy, towards enhancing the cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, head of the Ukrainian painters’ association Kostiantyn V. Cherniavskyy highly valued the Vietnamese Embassy’s initiative of encouraging Ukrainian painters’ work about Vietnam, while noting that the painters' enthusiasm made it a success.

Acting Chairman of the Zarkapatia Oblast Council Andrei Sheketa said the paintings helped him learn more about the land and people of Vietnam.
