It is the third time the chronicle has been translated into Russian. The first edition, published nearly 40 years ago, is categorised as a rare volume.
According to PhD History Andrei Fedorin, the book’s translator, the previous two editions do not meet the demand of Russian academics for the in-depth study of Vietnam.
Information from the latest edition, as well as those from other Vietnamese annals, will provide ample data for a comprehensive Russian-language history of Vietnam.
‘Viet Su Luoc’ is an anonymous work of Vietnamese history written in Han script. First published during the Tran dynasty (1225-1400), it is considered one of the most ancient Vietnamese historical books that have been handed down to posterity.
On the occasion, the third volume of ‘Dai Viet Su Ky Toan Thu’ (Complete History of the Great Viet) in the Russian language was also introduced to public.
