Music night to highlight folk melodies of ancient cities

A music night will be held at the French Culture Centre in Hanoi (L’Espace) on January 20, with a highlight on the music repertoires of Hanoi and Hue cities.

The event is among the activities hosted by the L’Espace to introduce to Vietnamese and international audiences to the essence of traditional Vietnamese music, particularly the country’s musical genres which have been recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage, including Hue’s royal court music and Ca Tru (ceremonial singing).

The show will feature the beautiful voices of Thanh Tam, the last vocalist of the Royal Court of Hue; People’s Artists Thanh Hoai and Xuan Hoach; and veteran instrumentalist Tran Thao.

The acclaimed artists will be accompanied by members of the ‘Dong Kinh Co Nhac’ (Ancient Music Group of Tonkin) and Hue-based Phu Xuan Royal Court Music Club.

Tickets for the show are priced at VND100,000 for students, VND130,000 for L’Espace members, and VND210,00 for general admission. Tickets are available at L’Espace, 24 Trang Tien Street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.
