Fireworks to mark Reunification Day, May Day in Ho Chi Minh City

Fireworks will light up the sky of Ho Chi Minh City later this month to celebrate 43 years of the South Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975) and the 132nd May Day (May 1, 1886).

Fireworks will be set off from 9pm to 9:15pm on April 30 from the roof of Thu Thiem Tunnel, which crosses the Saigon River, in District 2 and Dam Sen Park in District 11.

The firework displays, to be funded by social sources, will also be broadcast live by the Ho Chi Minh City Television Station.

To mark the upcoming events, the municipal People’s Committee also decided to adorn Le Duan street, Nguyen Hue street and the roundabout of Le Duan and Pham Ngoc Thach streets with decorative lights from April 23 to June 17.

Many cultural and sports activities have also been planned to celebrate the National Reunification Day and the May Day.

The municipal Department of Culture and Sports will organise a cross-country run, an event that has been held for 41 years to mark the South Liberation and National Reunification Day. Meanwhile, the 30th the Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup cycling tournament will also take place on this occasion.
