Juan Bosch statue unveiled in Hoa Binh Park

The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee's Commission for External Relations coordinated with Hanoi’s Party Committee and People's Committee to inaugurate a Professor Juan Bosch statue at Hoa Binh (Peace) Park, Hanoi, on August 28.

Professor Juan Bosch (1909-2001) was the leader of the national liberation movement in Latin America and the first President of the Dominican Republic. He helped the Dominican people to understand more about the war in Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, thus forming revolutionary movements to support the Vietnamese people.

The ceremony was attended by Miguel Mejia, the Dominican Republic’s United Left Movement (MIU) General Secretary and Minister for Regional Integration Policies; Tran Thanh Man, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, Member of the Party Central Committee, and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Nguyen The Hung, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee.

Addressing the ceremony, VFF President, Tran Thanh Man, said that the inauguration of the bust in Hanoi will help promote the friendship between the two nations’ people and help more Vietnamese people further understand the life and career of Juan Bosch as well as the Dominican Republic.

MIU General Secretary and Minister for Regional Integration Policies, Miguel Mejia, affirmed that it is an honour for the Dominican Republic to have a bust of Juan Bosch in Hanoi and it is a critically important event in their bilateral relations.

Ho Chi Minh and Juan Bosch were great leaders who guided their people through challenges and difficulties to bring their countries success with the goals of peace, democracy and civilisation, he added.
