Winners of 2018 national journalists’ singing contest announced

The winners of the sixth national singing contest for journalists were announced after the finale held at the Hanoi Opera House, on October 27.

Organised by the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, the organisers selected 11 out of 40 performances in the semi-finals held in the northern, southern and central regions to progress to the final round on Saturday evening.

The finalists covered diverse genres, focusing mainly on the theme of praising the Party, beloved Uncle Ho, patriotism, the revolutionary tradition and the heroic history of the nation. The judging panel, which consisted of well-known musicians and artists, voted for the best performances at the finale.

Accordingly, first prize belonged to Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung (from Dai Bieu Nhan Dan (he People’s Representative) Newspaper Journalists’ Association) with the song Nguoi Ha Noi (Hanoians). Two second prizes went to contestants Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang (Thua Thien - Hue Radio and Television) and Dang Thi Nguyet (Journalists’ Association of Army Radio and Television Centre). Two third prizes were granted to Nguyen Thi Minh Chau (Journalists’ Association under the Vietnam Journalists’ Association) and the team from the Journalists’ Association of Radio the Voice of Vietnam.

The organisers also awarded four consolation prizes, a prize for the best folk song performance and one award for the best performance of a revolutionary song. In addition, the Vietnam Musicians’ Association also presented its award for the most impressive contestant at the event.
