The event aimed to observe World Writers’ Day (March 3) and World Poetry Day (March 21).
The Russian works introduced on Saturday included Lev Tolstoy’s selective plays, Sergey Esenin’s poetry collection, Valentine Rasputin’s “Ivan’s daughter, Ivan’s mother” novel, and a famous monograph by Andrey Venhediktovich Fedorov, “Theory of translation”.
In addition, the programme also introduced a number of translations by female translator Phan Xuan Loan, such as “Birth” (author Alexei Varlamov), “Diary of the mother-in-law” and “Wife, lover and perfect gentleman” (author Maria Metlitskaya), “Last witnesses” (author Svetlana Alexievich), and a number of other works.
Speaking at the event, Popov Aleksey Vladimirovich, Russian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, stated that, in recent years, many Vietnamese people have gained a deep understanding of classic literary works from Russia. So far, modern Russian literary works have also become more and more popular in Vietnam, which, he said, helps to further promote the cultural, literary and arts exchanges between the two countries.
The Russian diplomat extended his thanks to the Vietnamese translators for their significant efforts to convey Russia’s literary works to Vietnamese readers, voicing his hope that the translators would continue contributing to accelerating Vietnam-Russia exchanges and cooperation across the spheres of literature and arts.
