The week, taking place during April 19-27, will revolve around the city’s book street and feature a literature exhibition, a bookcase accessible for children, the showcase of 10 exceptionally inspiring titles for young people, as well as an exhibition on the year-long contributions to reading encouragement activities by winners of the Book Tank competition.

On April 21, a delegation from Wallonia-Brussels will hold an exhibition on its literature cooperation with Vietnam, including a display of Vietnamese translations of Belgian literature as well as artwork by famous comic illustrator Daniel “Dany” Henrotin, and introduce films adapted from works by Belgian detective writer Georges Simenon.

During the week, a number of books will debut, exchanges will be held with authors and translators, and a seminar on government scholarships for overseas studies is also scheduled to take place.

On the occasion, the city’s book street debuted its eponymous “Duong sach” YouTube channel which will introduce exciting titles, weekly bulletins, and inspirational characters to viewers. They will be broadcast at 8pm every Saturday and Sunday.

Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications Tu Luong said the organising board wants to bring selected and necessary values to spread reading culture among the public via the event.
