Under the framework of "Vietnam Culture Days in Russia in 2019", held from May 21 to 28 in Russia, the exhibition aims to introduce special aesthetic values of Vietnamese lacquer paintings to the Russian art lover and international friends, bringing an overview of the development path of Vietnamese lacquer art from tradition to modern. At the exhibition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam introduced more than 30 lacquer works of many generations of painters.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ma The Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the lacquer is a unique type of painting in Vietnam. It is a landmark creation of the exploration and development of Vietnam's traditional craft painting techniques into lacquer painting art. He said the attractiveness of unique and durable materials has contributed to the richness and diversity of Vietnamese lacquer painting art.

On behalf of Russia’s Ministry of Culture, Deputy Minister of Culture Pavel Stepanov showed his delight in attending the cultural event with great significance to people of both countries. He read a letter from the Russian Minister of Culture, Vladimir Medinski, welcoming “Vietnamese Culture Days in Russia”, which states that the cultural cooperation between the two countries is an important factor of the Russia-Vietnam strategic partnership, bringing people of both countries closer together.
Along with the paintings, participants at the event also enjoyed folk music of both Vietnam and Russia.
