The artwork was produced to celebrate the VOV’s 74th founding anniversary and the 70th founding anniversary of VOV Theatre.

Adapted from a literary script by Assc. Prof. Nguyen The Ky, the art piece honours the bravery of Vietnamese soldiers who devoted their lives to safeguarding the Fatherland along with the faithfulness and compassion of Vietnamese women.

The piece is a harmonious combination of various traditional art forms, including cheo (traditional opera), cai luong (reformed theatre), xam (blind buskers singing), and Hue folk singing.

It is co-directed by Meritorious Artist Thanh Ngoan, Director of the Vietnam ‘Cheo’ Theatre, and Meritorious Artist Trieu Trung Kien, Deputy Director of the Vietnam ‘Cai Luong’ Theatre.

‘Ngan Nam May Trang’ will be submitted to compete at the fourth Experimental Theatre Festival, 2019.
