Street vendors in Hanoi

The exhibition presents a collection of sketches, drawings and watercolor paintings created by fifteen students from the Indochina College of Fine Arts (now Vietnam University of Fine Arts) and their teacher – Ferdinand de Fénis.

The artists skillfully sketched the small world of street vendors who criss-crossed the streets of the capital city, beginning their day from dawn, with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, sweets and dishes to offer.

Photographs of the same time period from the collection of EFEO (École française d’Extrême-Orient) will also be highlighted with an interactive installation work.

The daily life of Hanoi people will be revealed through the combination of light boxes, projections and installations. The streets cries of the vendors will surely awaken certain memories in your mind.

A beautiful combination of old-fashioned photos, graceful drawings and sound effects that fill the air with nostalgia.

The exhibition runs until October 31, 2019.
