More valuable books on Hanoi displayed

A ceremony was held in Hanoi on October 10 to release the valuable books on Hanoi under the second phase of the project ‘Bookcase of Thang Long with thousand years of civilisation’.

Following the first phase of the project on the occasion of the 1,000 Years of Thang Long – Hanoi in 2010, the Hanoi Publishing House has conducted the second phase since 2013.

Accordingly, over 9,000 pages of foreign documents about Hanoi in English, French and Dutch, have been collected.

In total, more 40 sets of books (74 books) in all fields including: geography, history, economy, culture, society and literature-arts were compiled and published. In addition, 20 general book titles were published to serve readers of all ages.

Up to now, the bookcase consists of total 137 sets of books, with 213 books. All books and documents from the first phase of the project have been digitised to serve the research on Thang Long – Hanoi.

The bookcase is expected to help readers learn more about the history and culture of Hanoi, contributing to developing the capital city more modern, civilised and elegant.
