Images of Hanoi during the resistance war against French colonialism (1946-1954) and the jubilant atmosphere on the Liberation Day 65 years ago were reproduced on the Phung Hung mural painting street.
The programme, entitled ‘Memory of Hanoi – 65 years’, featured the participation of members of the military band, artists, actors and actresses from art troupes.

Notably, hundreds of residents of all ages also joined the scenes wearing traditional costumes and waving flags and flowers to welcome the soldiers who were arriving to take over the capital city from colonial French rulers.
The programme aimed to pay tribute to the forefather's generation who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the capital city and the nation, as well as to educate younger generations in the revolutionary tradition.
Also on the occasion, a multimedia art exhibition featuring works on Hanoi by famous painter Bui Xuan Phai and an exhibition themed ‘Indochinese fine arts and applied arts in Hanoi – the first half of the 20th century’ opened yesterday at the Hanoi Museum.

Nearly 200 paintings by Bui Xuan Phai, which focused on three categories: Hanoi’s streets, Cheo (traditional opera), and sketches of family and friends, were digitised and screened with 3D mapping technology during the exhibition, which will last until October 25.
Notably, the images of visitors will be repainted based on the artist's drawing and style thanks to artificial intelligence technology.
The exhibition ‘Indochinese fine arts and applied arts in Hanoi – the first half of the 20th century’ showcased over 200 paintings, sculptures and architectural works, representing the golden period of Vietnamese fine arts. The event will last until March 15, 2020.
