The opening night featured a swing act by the circus performance duo Thu Huong and Anh Tuan from the Hanoi team. Accompanied by the traditional melodies of Quan Ho (love duet) singing, the performance won a huge round of applause from the audience.
The duo won the gold medal at the International Circus Festival in Rome, Italy in 2014.
The three-day gala, the first of its kind, will entertain the audience with interesting performances by more than 80 talented performers from across the country and particularly members of the Vietnam Circus Federation.
It is being held by the Quang Ninh provincial authorities and the Vietnam Circus Federation to provide an opportunity for participating circus artists to show off their skills and share their experience with their colleagues.
It also seeks to promote Ha Long city and Quang Ninh province in general as a safe, friendly and interesting destination for tourists at home and abroad.
