The contest was launched in December 2019 by the Centre for Water Resources Conservation and Development and the Vietnam Rivers Network with two major themes entitled ‘Central Highlands – Soil, Water and Life’, and ‘Central Highlands – Development Stories.’

More than 500 entries were sent to the contest by nearly 300 entrants, most of them capturing the ecological system and social situation in the region.

The photos also highlighted the efforts made by Central Highlanders in environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources.

The organising board presented prizes to almost 50 of the best entries, with the two first prizes going to Vu Duy Thuong from Dak Lak province and Nguyen Ngoc Son from Dong Nai province.

The same day in Kon Tum province, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism hosted the awards ceremony for a photo contest on Kon Tum tourism.

Themed ‘Experiencing culture and exploring nature in Kon Tum’, the contest was held with the sponsorship of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.

Five months after being launched, the organising board received more than 1,000 submissions from 86 photographers of 19 cities and provinces nationwide. The entries reflected the daily life, festivals, traditional cultural practices, and natural landscape in Kon Tum province.

Over 100 standout photos were selected to be exhibited to the public on the occasion.
