Four films win Golden Lotus Award at Vietnam Film Festival

Four excellent films, in the four categories of feature film, documentary, science film, and cartoon, were awarded the Golden Lotus Award at the closing ceremony of the 22nd Vietnam Film Festival held in Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province, on November 20.

After three days of serious and responsible work, with many exciting and meaningful activities, the 22nd Vietnam Film Festival with the theme “Building a Vietnamese film industry rich in national identity, modernity and humanity" was officially closed and awarded.

This year, from the 141 films submitted to the competition, the organising board selected 128 films from 48 units, including: 26 feature films, 56 documentaries, 15 scientific films and 31 cartoons. Of which, the screenings of competing films programmes include 17 feature films, 37 documentaries, 15 scientific films, and 23 cartoons.

The Golden Lotus Award went to the feature film "Mat Biec".

According to the jury's assessment, the works participating in this year's feature film category are quite diverse in terms of talents and trends. Documentaries and scientific films participating in this year's festival have increased in number, presenting attractive, diverse and attractive issues to the audience.

The cartoon category saw quite a large number of participants with 31 films. At the same time, it also displayed the great progress in production techniques of Vietnamese filmmakers.

At the awards night and the closing ceremony, the organising board honoured the best works, actors, directors, and cinematographers in the four categories.

In addition to the four Golden Lotus Awards, the organising board presented six Silver Lotus Awards in four film categories.

Accordingly, in the feature film category, the Golden Lotus Award was given to the film "Mat Biec" (Dreamy Eyes), produced by Galaxy Entertainment and Education Joint Stock Company. Meanwhile, in the documentary category, the Golden Lotus was awarded to the film "Ranh Gioi" (Boundary), produced by the Centre for Documentaries and Reportage, Vietnam Television.

In the scientific film category, Golden Lotus Award presented to the film "Diem Mu Giao Thong" (Traffic blind spot), produced by the Centre for Documentaries and Reportage, Vietnam Television.

In the Cartoons category, the Golden Lotus Award went to the film "Con Chim Go" (Wooden Bird), produced by Vietnam Animation Joint Stock Company.

In addition to the award structure of the previous film festivals, the organising board decided to present two new awards, including the Best Cinematography Techniques Award and the Best First Feature Film Director award.

The 22nd Vietnam Film Festival continues to be affirmed as an artistic event with a professional mark, attracting a large number of producers, artists, film activists, with many cinematographic works of artistic quality, humanistic value and high turnover.

At the closing night, leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented the flag to host the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival in 2023 to the leaders of Lam Dong Province.
