The concert, held by the Korean Culture Centre in Vietnam and the Korean Trade Association in Vietnam, marked the 21st anniversary of Vietnam-RoK diplomatic relations.
Performing in Vietnam for the first time, the Seoul Pops Orchestra combined classical and contemporary music with famous symphony pieces. They also impressed the audience with a unique combination between classical music and the music of Michael Jackson.
They also performed a pair of Vietnamese folk songs – ‘Beo dat may troi’ (Water ferns drift, clouds float) and ‘Trong Com’ (Cylindrical Drum Song).
According to Park Nark Jong, the director of the Korean Culture Centre, the performance was organised not only as a fundraiser for poor students, but also to promote mutual understanding between people of the two countries, particularly at a time when the bilateral relations are expanding strongly.
The orchestra also plans to give a performance at the Korean Food Festival in the Kengnam Landmark 72 building on November 16.
