The affirmation was made by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien at a meeting between leaders of the three countries’ fine arts associations that was held in Hanoi on December 12.

The meeting was called to contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and exchanges between the fine arts associations of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia in order to develop each country’s domestic art while strengthening the friendship between the three sides.

The deputy minister expressed his hope that the associations would undertake numerous practical activities to promote development in the field while preserving the traditional artistic identity of each country and of the region under the framework of international exchange and integration.

At the meeting, the delegates discussed the organisation of further exhibitions to introduce the three countries’ art to the public, as well as bilateral meeting activities to promote exchanges between leaders of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and those of Laos and Cambodia.

Chairmen Bounthieng Siripaphanh and Pen Sithon of the Lao and Cambodian fine arts associations expressed their gratitude to the Vietnamese side for its support during the past years.

Since 2004, 11 delegations of artists from Laos and Cambodia have visited and worked in Vietnam, while 9 delegations from Vietnam attended fine arts camps in the other two countries.

The meeting was the second held among leaders of the three associations. The third event is expected to be held in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh in 2015.
