Vietnamese film competes at Festival of the Three Continents

The Vietnamese film ‘Dap canh giua khong trung’ (Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere) by director Nguyen Hoang Diep is competing at the 36th Festival of the Three Continents, taking place in Nantes, France from November 25 to December 2.

The annual festival is held for outstanding films from three continents: Asia, Africa and Latin America.

This is the first time ‘Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere’ will be screened in France, with six screenings scheduled.

The film, which has been warmly welcomed to the festival, will compete for official awards with nine other films from countries of three continents including Singapore, Argentina, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Philippines.

The film already won the Special Jury Award for Feature Film at the third Hanoi International Film Festival. It has already been screened in Italy, Belgium, Slovakia, Denmark, Canada, America, the RoK, India and Taiwan (China).

Numerous world famous directors have been honoured at the Festival of the Three Continents including Abbas Kiarostami (Iran), Wong Kar-wai (Hong Kong) and Jia Zhangke (China).
