Addressing the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to India, Ton Sinh Thanh said the art works demonstrated different aspects and the beauty of Vietnam, helping international friends to better understand about the people and culture of Vietnam.
The Ambassador noted that the exhibition, along with other cultural activities to be held in India this year, will be a good opportunity to promote the bilateral cultural co-operation, one of the five pillars of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and India.
Artist Nguyen Quy Kien noted that the exhibition displays 45 paintings and 45 art photographs produced by 20 Vietnamese contemporary artists and photographers from across Vietnam which are diversified in genre including lacquer, oil painting and abstract painting, among others.
Kien said this was the second time he visited India and was impressed by Indian artists, hoping that artists from the two countries will have more opportunities to meet and exchange to gain an understanding of the arts of the two countries.
IGNCA Member Secretary, Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi was delighted when attending the exhibition, saying that Vietnam and India had close cultural ties and shared many similarities.
President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Prof. Lokesh Chandra highlighted the long-lasting traditional friendship of the two countries and thanked Vietnamese artists for sharing their special art works with Indian people.
The event will conclude on January 10.
