The event opens a series of activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India (January 7) and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between two nations.

The week called “Vietnam—India Friendship Day” will feature many interesting cultural activities, such as music performances, a food fair, and a photo exhibition introducing images of India to people in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event is being jointly held by the HCMC Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO), the Vietnam-India Friendship Association and Youth Culture House in coordination with the Consulate General of India in HCMC and the Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam (INCHAM).

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the HCMC Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Nguyen Van Manh, the event creates an opportunity for India to introduce its colourful culture and art to local residents and vice versa, strengthening the friendship, solidarity and mutual understanding between the two peoples.

The Vietnam-India Cultural Week lasts until January 14.
