French Literature Week to be held in Hanoi

The French Literature Week with the theme “From Pages to Screens” will take place from November 5 to 18 at the Institut Français de Hanoi – L'Espace, No. 24 Trang Tien Street, Hanoi.

The highlight of the event is an exchange programme by writer David Foenkinos and his film adaptation screening, which will take place at 5:30 pm on November 15.

During the week, Institut français du Vietnam, in collaboration with the Nha Nam publishing house, for the first time, will present an exhibition of a number of book covers of famous literary works already adapted to cinema, the Vietnamese editions of which are translated and published by Nha Nam. Some of the books include Alexandre Dumas’ The Lady of the Camellias, Gaston Leroux’s The Phantom of the Opera, Alphonse Daudet’s Little What’s-His-Name, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince, Alice Ferney’s The Elegance of Widows, Anna Gavalda’s Hunting and Gathering, David Foenkinos’ Delicacy, Pierre Lemaitre’s The Great Swindle, and Romain Gary’s The Life Before Us.

In addition, famous French films, including "Les souvenirs" and "Jalouse", will also be screened on November 14 and November 16.

Meanwhile, film lovers will be able to meet director Marcus Manh Cuong at the workshop "Writing a film script from a literary work" on November 16 and November 17.
