The opening ceremony was attended by Party Central Committee member and Chairman of Hanoi city People’s Committee, Nguyen Duc Chung, German Ambassador to Vietnam Christian Berger and Vietnam Airlines General Director Duong Tri Thanh.

On the opening night, the German jazz band Landes Jugend Jazz Orchester entertained the audience with beautiful jazz melodies, such as “Apple Honey” (Woody Herman), “April in Paris” (Vernon Duke), and “Leaving” (Richie Beirach, Jim McNeely), among others.

On its second day on April 21, the festival will bring to the stage a contemporary dance by talented Vietnamese-French choreographer Sebastien Ly, and a choir and dance by students from Hanoi-based Sol Art Centre.

The two-day event also features the unique Tac Xinh folk dance of the San Chay ethnic group from Vietnam’s Thai Nguyen province, which was recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage, and performances by Vietnamese Jazz Glory band – the first runner up of The Band contest 2019.

Wide-ranging tourism promotions are on offer by the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and its business partners on the occasion.
