Vietnamese photographer wins third prize at UK contest

Photographer Viet Van from Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper has become the only representative of Vietnam to win a prize in the Street Food category of the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2019 in the UK.

His photo captures a butcher woman having breakfast at Ben Thanh market in Ho Chi Minh City and won the third prize at the contest. It used to grab the first prize at the US Master Cup 2017 in the same category.

The Pink Lady Food Photographer contest attracted 9,000 photos from 77 countries.

The organising board included 45 experts from the UK Association of Photographers, the International Centre of Photography in New York, and prestigious newspapers and magazines such as Daily Telegraph, Guardian News & Media, and New York Times.

As many as 170 photos and short movies from 30 countries were selected to put on display at an exhibition in London from May 1-5.

The expo will come to other big cities in the UK and the Europe.
