The film, entitled “Vietnam, le joyau de l'Asie” (Vietnam: a jewel of Asia), was launched as part of activities marking the 74th year of the Southeast Asian country’s August Revolution (August 19) and the National Day (September 2).

Directed by Samir Lezzoum, the film features the Dien Bien Phu Victory and the sacrifice of Vietnamese people in the war against French colonialists. It also introduces recent achievements in socio-economic development and international integration of Vietnam.

The documentary was shot in various localities across the country, including Hanoi, Dien Bien and Son La in the north and the southern Ho Chi Minh City economic hub.

Addressing the screening event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Pham Quoc Tru spoke highly of Algerian filmmakers’ efforts and devotion to the project, which vividly reflects the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Algeria.

The same day, the Vietnamese Embassy organised the “Exploring Vietnam” photo exhibition, with more than 50 pictures on show.

The event was designed to introduce the country’s natural landscapes, people, traditional culture, cuisine, festivals, craft villages and world heritage to Algerian and international friends.
