Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy emphasised that the 6th Hanoi Book Association in 2019 continues to affirm the importance of books in social life and the studious tradition of Vietnamese and Hanoi people. The event contributes to sustain the efforts of Hanoi city leaders, authorities, publishing houses and the people of the capital in promoting traditional values of Thang Long - Hanoi.

Domestic publishing houses and book distributors, fourteen foreign publishing businesses from Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, among others, as well as some embassies in Hanoi will participate in the fourth holding of the festival to exhibit their books and join a cultural exchange program.

The books will be displayed at eye catching points among some 200 standard pavilions for publishing houses to do publicity and showcase educational playthings that will be placed at an open-air space across the main entrance.

The event also features some workshops gathering well-known authors, art programs, a storytelling program, an English workshop and a panel on astronomy, among others.

Besides, on October 6 at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, there will be a programme titled Memories of Autumn featuring a series of activities including a procession of photos of historical witnesses and their families, artistic performances and a historical flag hoisting ceremony.
