Outstanding folklore art works in 2019 honoured

Sixty one outstanding folk art works in 2019 were honoured at a ceremony held by the Vietnamese Folklore Arts Association (VFAA) in Hanoi on December 20.

Two A second prizes were awarded by experts from the Instituteof Cultural Studies under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences. Namely, “Learning about Vietnamese folk poetry” by Trieu Nguyen (Lu Vien) from Thua Thien – Hue province and the work “The Three and Four Realms or Palaces in documents and religious practices of Kinh people and several ethnic minority groups in northern mountainous province”.

In addition, the organising board presented 12 B second, 21 A third, 18 B third, and five consolation prizes to other outstandingprojects.

The VFAA received 77 projects registered for the awards in 2019 in five categories, including philology, customs, performing arts, visual arts and folk knowledge.

According to Prof. Dr. To Ngoc Thanh, the research projects by scientists have significantly contributed to highlighting the quintessential cultural values left by Vietnamese people’s ancestors over the past thousands of years.

On the occasion, the VFAA congratulated older members on their longevity and presented gifts to them.
