WB approves US$250 million credit for Vietnam

The World Bank (WB) in Vietnam announced on June 1 that it has approved two credit packages worth a total of US$250 million for Vietnam to implement and support scientific and technological research projects related to health in the Red River Delta.

The WB bank will provide US$150 million through the International Development Association (IDA) for the Red River Delta Regional Health System Support Project, which aims to offer better health care services for 15 million people in the region, particularly women and children.

The project will also help build the capacity of district and provincial level hospitals and ease the overload at central level hospitals.

The remaining US$100 million will be used to support scientific and technological research in Vietnam by designing policies to encourage creativity in the field and enhancing the efficiency of research and development institutes.
