Despite scoring first, Vietnam let China turn the tie around and lost 1-3 in the quarterfinals of Women's Asian Cup 2022, on January 30. The loss cost Vietnam a direct ticket to the Women’s World Cup 2023. However, Vietnam still has another chance at the play-offs. In the first play-off, Vietnam will go against Thailand on February 2, following the second match, on February 6.
