During more than 30 years of building and developing BRG Group and SeABank, businesswoman Nguyen Thi Nga has been honoured with the first-class Labour Order and several other noble titles and awards. “For me, the title of National Emulation Soldier is a source of motivation for me to contribute and share more with the community,” shared the businesswoman.

To the Vietnamese business community, Nguyen Thi Nga is known as the chairwoman of BRG Group and the founding chairwoman of SeABank. In recent years, Nga has also served as Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Women Entrepreneurs (VAWE).

In December 2022, Nguyen Thi Nga represented the Vietnamese female business community at the World Assembly for Women conference in Tokyo, Japan. The event was attended by leaders of many countries, including the host country’s Prime Minister.

Nga still recounts the pride when she was appointed to address the Women Entrepreneurship Summit. Vietnam's continuous promotion in gender equality indexes, as well as the strong development of the Vietnamese female business community in recent years, is the result of practical, proper and profound policies, as well as legal documents and training programmes on improving management capacity that the Party, State and Government have promulgated dedicated specifically to women.

As a delegate representing the country at the Summit, Nga spoke about efforts to ensure gender equality in Vietnam and the progress Vietnamese women have achieved. In particular, Vietnam’s progress in policies for women’s businesses has received high appreciation from the international community.

From the beginning of 2023, BRG Group and SeABank have sponsored the construction of 1,200 social houses for needy households in Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces with a total cost of 60 billion VND.

The Group has also implemented many internal support and training programmes for female workers and female officers, especially those with difficulties.

In programmes to support the female business community, BRG has joined hands with major financial institutions, such as IFC, DFC and ADB, supporting credit for female-owned businesses.

As of April 2023, more than 20% of businesses in Vietnam are owned by women, and more than 51% of Vietnamese businesses have women in the ownership structure, this rate is on par with other developed economies like Singapore, France and Sweden. In addition, many prestigious international units have also ranked Vietnam among the leading countries in the field of women's empowerment and gender equality.

Many policies and programmes supporting women-owned businesses have been put into practice, with a focus on the national strategy on gender equality and the Law on gender equality.
