NDO – The market of ornamental plants has become bustling, as there are only around 20 days left to Tet (lunar New Year) festival. In addition to apricot, peach blossoms and kumquat, which are popular bonsai trees for Tet decorations, gardeners have provided customers with other new products, including imported multicolour bougainvillea, with a price up to millions of Vietnamese dong.

According to Ngoc Hoa, owner of a flower garden in Thanh Cao commune, Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province, since the eleventh lunar month, customers have flocked to her garden, to choose bonsai trees for Tet decorations. Her garden houses many varieties of bougainvillea in different sizes and shapes, each is sold from one million VND to 150 million VND.

Hoa said that most of her customers prefer bougainvillea trees with variegated foliage, with prices ranging from ten million VND to 50 million VND. Those having a price tag of more than 100 million VND can be hired for 15 days, at a cost between 30 million VND to 50 million VND.

The trees have high prices, because they are imported from Thailand, Hoa explained.
