Vietnam win AFF U23 Youth Championship: A match with overwhelming emotions

Vietnam was crowned the AFF U23 Youth Championship title after beating Thailand 1-0 in the final match, held at the Morodok Techno National Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on February 26.

Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper’s Cambodia-based correspondent Nguyen Hiep captures photos featuring the overwhelming emotions of spectators at the match.

Nguyen Thi Hoa, a spectator from Hanoi, said that the match left her with a lot of emotions. She was extremely happy and proud that the U23 Vietnam team won the championship title.

“I am beyond happy now,” claimed Le Manh Hung, the owner of a Vietnamese restaurant in Phnom Penh. He hailed that although many Vietnamese players who registered for the tournament tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the team entered the match with tremendous spirit. The victory is a great gift for Overseas Vietnamese in Cambodia, he stated, adding that Vietnamese expats in Cambodia always turn their hearts toward the motherland.

Phan Van Truong, a staff member of the Vietnamese trade office in Cambodia, commended that the Vietnam team’s performance during the match was excellent. “It was a convincing victory,” he praised.

Do Nhu Ninh, spouse of a staff member of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, said he was proud that Vietnamese U23 became the champion. The team’s performances during the tournament brought a lot of emotions for him.
