The airport is located in Doan Ket commune, Van Don district, QuangNinh province and was invested in by Sun Group in the form of BOT (build-operate-transfer) model. With a total investment of approximately VND7.7 trillion, the airport has a capacity of receiving 2.5 million passengers and 10,000 tonnes of commodities per year in its first phase. The airport is scheduled for official operation on December 30 this year.

The airport puts first priority on passenger experience through its exterior to interior design and aviation technologies and techniques.

Passenger will see a fresh green space immediately from the campus leading to the terminal with a large number of trees spreading across the parking area.

At the front hall area, passengers will be welcomed in a space filled with natural light and a pond of Koi fish as if you were walking in a green park.

The investor also uses natural friendly and energy saving materials such as the wooden roof system to equip the “eco-airport”.

The unique design helps to create an open space inside the station, while reducing heat radiation and saving energy.

With the harmonious combination between wood, metal, glass and stone, every space of the airport is luxurious, gentle, and modern.

The highlight of the airport is a distinguished hanging garden which is also the smoking area.

At the business class lounge, passengers can enjoy services meeting the strict standards of 5-star airlines and the green space of the hanging garden.

“Every passenger who takes a flight to Van Don will be greeted with a green space filled with light right in the place of hustling activities,” said Singaporean designer of the airport Jeannie Chew.
