Nga Nam floating market is located in the town of the same name, around 60km from Soc Trang city. The market named “Nga Nam” (cross-road) because it is the intersection of five river branches to Ca Mau, Phung Hiep, Thanh Tri, Vinh Quoi and Long My.

NDO – Located in the important trading position of five regions, Nga Nam (cross-road) floating market is still bustling with buyers and sellers on rainy days. The market is also a rare floating market retaining the traditional features of the southwestern people today.

At 7 a.m, the black cloud covered the entire floating market. Normally, the market launches from early morning, from 4 a.m or 5 a.m until noon. On special holidays, the market takes place from early morning until evening.

Booths on boats, with a variety of products, from meat, fish, vegetables, to necessities of life such as soap, salt sauce, medicine, even clothes or electronics.

The floating market also serves breakfast on the boat with very reasonable and popular prices.

Fruits or local agricultural products account for a very large quantity of things on offer in the market.

At the front of each boat is a long pole from which the traders hang examples of the products they sell.

The rainy season in the southwestern region usually runs from September to November, so there are days from the early morning Nga Nam floating market is sunk in the rain.

Whether there’s rain or shine, the market is still busy. It is the most "pure" floating market in the Mekong River Delta, not affected by tourism like the famous Cai Rang floating market of Can Tho.
