As if she was born for the second time, Huyen M cannot hide her joy and emotions as she blows out the candle for her 18th birthday on her bed at the Intensive Care Unit of Bach Mai Hospital.

According to Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Head of the Intensive Care said: Huyen M was transferred to the Unit on February 29 with a diagnosis of myocarditis/complication of cardiogenic shock/ multiple organ failure, causing a high risk of death. After an intensive care process with the most advanced techniques, especially extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in combination with others, the patient has recovered and her organ function is improving. It is hoped that she can be discharged from the hospital in a few weeks.

Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Tuan, Director of Bach Mai Hospital emphasised that the medical staff of the hospital are doubling their efforts to fight against the epidemic whilst caring for nearly 1,000 serious patients due to blockade and isolation; however, they do not flinch.
