The reinforced concrete viaduct can survive magnitude 7 earthquakes and is designed to have four lanes and a speed limit of 100 km per hour.

The project has seen a total investment of VND5.3 trillion (US$230 million) sourced from ODA capital from the Japanese Government and a length of 5.3 km including the 4.8 km of elevated road.

Duong Viet Roan, Director of the Thang Long Project Management Board under the Ministry of Transport, said the project is expected to open to traffic on September 30.

According to Roan, the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic directly affected the timely implementation of the project.

Several sections of the viaduct have been completed and installed with concrete railings.

Workers work in small groups to complete the road surface.
