The annual ceremony has become a proud practice of all ASEAN member nations, representing the honour of common values and commitments in promoting the bloc’s solidarity, friendship and cooperation, under the common roof of the ASEAN Community, for peace and prosperity in the region.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, leaders and officials of MOFA, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs as well as ambassadors and representatives from ASEAN member countries’ embassies in Hanoi.

The ASEAN flag has four colours: blue, red, white and yellow, with 10 rice stalks in the centre, representing friendship, solidarity and unity among ASEAN members.

Addressing the event, Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh said that over the past 53 years, ASEAN has made huge strides forward, transforming from a land of discord to a land of concord, from confrontation to cooperation, and from poverty to dynamic development.
 |
He affirmed that with the “Think Community, Act Community” approach, Vietnam will continue to work closely with other ASEAN member countries as well as with its external partners and the international community to build a united and resilient ASEAN Community. He expressed his belief that by continuing to work shoulder to shoulder, ASEAN can rise above any challenges and move forward.
