On July 20, at the first session of the new legislature, member of the 15th NA Standing Committee cum member of the NEC Nguyen Thi Thanh presented a report on the confirmation of the status of the 15th NA deputies.

Accordingly, on July 12, the NEC held its 8th session to consider and decide to confirm the status of the deputies to the new NA. The council heard its Complaint and Denunciation Settlement Subcommittee report on the results of settlements of complaints and denunciations related to the deputies elected to the 15th NA. The NEC’s Personnel Subcommittee also reported on the status of the 15th NA deputies.

The NEC affirmed that the election of deputies to the 15th NA was conducted on the principles of universal, equal, direct and secret suffrage, with democratic requirements ensured and fully in accordance with the law.

The consultation, selection and nomination of candidates for the 15th NA election was held in a public, democratic and lawful manner, with all related steps making lists and announcing the lists of voters and candidates carried out in accordance with the process and time prescribed by the Law on Election of Deputies to the NA and People's Councils.

Voters nationwide elected all 500 deputies to the 15th NA in 184 constituencies in accordance with the principles of determining the winners as prescribed in Article 78 of the Law on Election of Deputies to the NA and People's Councils.

The NEC decided not to confirm one candidate's eligibility for an NA deputy position for a single NA deputy election in constituency No. 1 of Binh Duong province. "Thus, there are 499 confirmed deputies elected to the 15th NA as announced on June 10," Thanh informed.

As of July 12, the receipt, consideration and settlement of complaints and denunciations about the elected deputies to the 15th NA was as follows: 493 people who did not have a written complaint, denunciation or reflection.

There were six elected NA deputies who were reported with complaints. The competent agencies have reviewed the complaints in accordance with law and concluded that the complaints were not eligible for settlement according to the order and procedures for settlement of complaints and denunciations.

The NEC’s Subcommittees on Complaints and Denunciations and Personnel agreed to report to the council the fact that six cases with complaints all met the required standards and were eligible to be deputies in the 15th NA.

“After thorough discussion, with a high level of consensus, all members of the NEC unanimously voted to pass the resolution confirming that 499 elected candidates are eligible to be deputies to the NA in the 15th term,” the NEC reported to the NA.
