Within the session, reports were heard on the outstanding results of epidemic prevention and control along with Report No.301 of the Party Committee of the City People's Committee on the plan for COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control and economic recovery in Ho Chi Minh City after September 15, 2021.

The city has so far covered more than 90% of the 1st vaccine shots and nearly 20% of the second shots for people aged 18 and over; the number of deaths is decreasing. Social distancing is being applied in a strict and effective manner.

However, the city has yet to meet epidemic control criteria according to Decision No.3979/QD-BYT of the Ministry of Health. Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City has consulted with the Prime Minister and agreed to continue implementing social distancing for another two weeks in the spirit of Directive No.16.

At the session, the municipal Party Committee discussed, evaluated the results achieved in the process of implementing Resolution No.86 of the Government, as well as agreed on views, goals, methods and strategies to continue implementing the resolution in the next period.

In his conclusion speech, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen underscored the importance of the plan on COVID-19 prevention and control and economic recovery in the city from September 15, 2021, greatly impacting the key southern economy, as well as that of the whole country.

This forms the legal basis for the city to transition to the new normal and realise its dual goals, he noted.
