NDO – The Hoang Dieu Citadel National Salvation Youth Union was conferred with the “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title at a ceremony held in Hanoi on October 8.

The ceremony was co-organised by the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi on the 67th anniversary of the capital’s Liberation Day (October 10, 1954-2021).

On behalf of Party and State leaders, Politburo member and President Nguyen Xuan Phuc awarded the “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title to the Hoang Dieu Citadel National Salvation Youth Union for its outstanding achievements in the resistance war against the French colonialists.

The State President together with Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung also presented flowers to General Nguyen Quyet, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice Chairman of the State Council, and former Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee.

The Hoang Dieu Citadel National Salvation Youth Union was set up in August 1944 with around 60 members. After the August Revolution, the union and people nationwide exerted every effort to protect the revolutionary government.

They also participated in the long-term resistance war against the French colonialists, contributing to the capital’s liberation on October 10, 1954, and then continued to participate in the resistance war against the US imperialists for national salvation until the day of complete liberation of the South and reunification of the country.

Also at the ceremony, Hanoi also praised typical examples from the “Good people and good deeds” movements and honoured nine outstanding citizens of the city in 2021.
