PM meets voters in Can Tho ahead of NA’s second session

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh together with other National Assembly (NA) deputies from the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho met voters on October 13.

Voicing their opinions at the meeting, held via teleconference ahead of the 14th NA’s second session, voters expressed their pleasure at the recent achievements in the COVID-19 prevention and control, saying that the epidemic has been controlled nationwide, including in Can Tho.

They agreed that above results are attributable to the sound leadership and direction of the Party and State; the participation of the whole political system, the Fatherland Front and mass organisations; especially the close and drastic direction of the Government and the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention and control and the solidarity and consensus of the people and businesses nationwide.

In addition, voters from Can Tho city also reflected, recommended and proposed to the authorities at all levels and the NA on a number of issues related to the allocation of vaccinations to the people to prevent and control the epidemic in the city; regulations to facilitate the movement of goods and people; social security policies, and debt rescheduling for people and businesses; among others.

They also suggested the State have a policy to stabilise the prices of animal feed and agricultural materials, and at the same time support the consumption of agricultural products for farmers; also strictly managing the price of COVID-19 test kits, etc.

Residents also urged the continued enhancement of the fight against corruption, noting that the people always stand side-by-side with the Party and State in this task.

Welcoming the opinions, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the voters’ response to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the maintaining of socio-economic development. He suggested all agencies continue to deal with voters' proposals and recommendations.

The PM asked for more ideas from the public to help parliamentarians fulfil their duties, while requesting the Can Tho NA delegation show a high sense of responsibility towards their tasks.

The Government and Prime Minister will accompany the authorities and people of Can Tho city to successfully implement the set goals with the immediate plan of shifting its strategy to safe and flexible adaptation and effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic while boosting socio-economic development, PM Chinh noted.

He also emphasised that the Government will prioritise removing difficulties in mechanisms and policies to tap all resources for pandemic prevention and control and socio-economic development, ensuring social welfare, and strengthening national defence and security.
