Speaking at the session, Deputy PM Le Van Thanh acknowledged and lauded Hai Phong’s encouraging results in socio-economic development over the past time.
The Deputy PM emphasised that Hai Phong had had continuous growth momentum for the past 5 years. Notably, the city achieved a GRDP growth of 12.28% in the first 9 months of 2021. This is 8.6 times higher than the average growth rate of the whole country, which finds itself in difficult conditions due to the complicated epidemic developments.
However, in order to achieve the goals set by the Politburo’s Resolution No.45, Hai Phong needs to develop more strongly, especially focusing on improving the business investment environment in order to attract investment resources to maintain the high growth rate; and strengthen the discipline of budget revenue and expenditure, Deputy PM Thanh said, adding that the city needs to focus on three economic development pillars including industry, seaports and tourism.
He also noted that Hai Phong needs to carefully and properly review proposals in adjusting the city’s general planning; strengthen the management of infrastructure of industrial parks, deal with violations of construction orders in industrial parks; and the development of industrial parks must follow the direction of civilisation, modernity and high technology.
The Deputy PM agreed with the proposals made by ministries, branches and Hai Phong on the development of the South Do Son seaport; upgrading and expanding Cat Bi international airport, soon implementing the planning on the development of Tien Lang airport; relocating Hoang Dieu port; upgrading the Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line; among others.
