The event was to mark the 91st anniversary of Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18).

Speaking at the event, Politburo member Thuong hailed efforts of residents in Yen Bai and those in Tan Hop commune, Van Yen district, in particular for building on the past achievements and the great national unity, effectively following the Party and State’s policies and guidelines, thus improving their lives.

He said via editions of the great national unity festival, Vietnam’s solidarity tradition has been increasingly upheld and passed on to future generations, especially young people.

On the back of great national unity, the country became the first worker-peasant State in Southeast Asia, defeated two powerful invaders, healed the wounds of war, and performed useful tasks to grow further, he added.

He suggested that the province should exert greater efforts to effectively fight the pandemic while promoting socio-economic development in the near future.

On the occasion, he also visited stalls displaying specialties of Tan Hop commune and Van Yen district, and joined cultural activities and played local folk games.
