Members of Vietnamese Government for 2016-2021 period honoured

A meeting was held on November 20 to honour several members of the government during the 2016-2021 tenure who retired after the 13th National Party Congress.

The event was attended by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung was honoured with the Independence Order, first class, while former Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong, former Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien and former Vietnam Television General Director Tran Binh Minh received the Independence Order, second class.

Former Voice of Vietnam General Director Nguyen The Ky and former Vietnam News Agency General Director Nguyen Duc Loi were both honoured with the Independence Order, third class.

Speaking at the meeting, the order recipients thanked the Party and State and their colleagues for helping them fulfil their duties and expressed their confidence that government for the 2021-2026 tenure will overcome all difficulties and challenges to record greater achievements.

For his part, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh spoke highly of former government members, who have made significant contributions to areas of their work during their career.

He expected that the retired officials will continue to share their experience and valuable ideas to help in the country’s socio-economic development.
