They included former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, former National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, former Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan, former Minister of Defence Ngo Xuan Lich, former Hanoi Party Secretary Hoang Trung Hai and former head of the Central Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh.
At the ceremony, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong praised the retired officials for their vast contributions during their tenure and expressed his wishes that they will continue contributing their opinions on national development.
For her part, former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan pledged to maintain the qualities of a Party member when retiring, so as not to affect the Party’s reputation.
She expressed her confidence that under the Party’s leadership and the people’s joint efforts, Vietnam will continue to grow strongly.
