President Nguyen Xuan Phuc commemorates President Ton Duc Thang

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc offered incense and flowers to President Ton Duc Thang at a memorial zone dedicated to the late leader in Long Xuyen City, in the southern province of An Giang, on January 18.

He wrote in the commemorative book that President Ton Duc Thang was a bright example of patriotism and revolutionary heroism, modesty, simplicity, and dedication to the people’s happiness.

Ton Duc Thang was among the first soldiers of the workers’ movement and the revolutionary movement in Vietnam.

On the occasion, President Phuc planted trees within the campus of the memorial site, which features more than 100 pictures and objects related to the life and career of President Ton Duc Thang.

On the same day, President Phuc visited and extended Lunar New Year greetings to current and former leaders of An Giang Province.

He spoke highly of An Giang’s efforts to overcome difficulties towards recording positive results in economic development and ensuring social security for the tens of thousands of workers who returned home from big cities due to COVID-19.

The President expressed his expectations that the people and government of An Giang will tap into its strengths to bring about new development achievements for the province and contribute to national development.
