The conference was attended by Politburo member, Standing member of the Central Military Commission and Chairman of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People's Army General Luong Cuong.
Speaking at conference, General Phan Van Giang outlined a number of characteristics and situations in the world and in the country related to military and defence tasks in the coming time. At the same time, he oriented the main points that need to be focused on leadership and direction.
The Minister urged the whole army to maintain strict readiness to fight; firmly grasp and forecast the situation in order to promptly advise and effectively handle situations; and coordinate forces to ensure security and order nationwide.
He suggested that the leaders of the Ministry of Defence direct the work of political, ideological and legal education, closely protect internal politics, ensure security and safety for the whole army, directing the whole army to ensure good life and health for soldiers, and implementing measures to strengthen management and ensure weapon safety, among others.
